Red Deer: Graceful and Majestic

Red deer are symbols of grace and strength, and "Rufus," the stag of the zoo’s herd, embodies these qualities perfectly. Standing tall with his magnificent antlers, Rufus is a sight to behold. His antlers, which can grow up to a meter in length, are shed and regrown every year, a process that never fails to fascinate visitors.

Rufus spends much of his day grazing in the grassy enclosure alongside his herd. Zookeepers provide a mix of grasses, leaves, and seasonal fruits to ensure a balanced diet. During the fall rutting season, Rufus displays his dominance by engaging in mock battles with other males, locking antlers in a dramatic display of strength.

To keep Rufus and his herd active, zookeepers scatter food throughout the enclosure, encouraging them to forage. The serene environment and Rufus’s regal presence make this exhibit a favorite spot for guests seeking a peaceful moment.
