African Elephant: The Gentle Giants
The African elephants in the zoo are not just awe-inspiring in size but also in intelligence. "Mama Zuri," the matriarch of the herd, leads her group with grace and wisdom. She enjoys splashing in the large waterhole and using her trunk to interact with keepers and guests during feeding demonstrations.
To care for such massive animals, zookeepers provide a diverse diet of fruits, vegetables, and hay while rotating enrichment items like logs and tires to encourage physical activity. Elephants also participate in training sessions, where they voluntarily lift their feet or open their mouths for veterinary care, making their care stress-free and cooperative.
